bleah. the short version: Friday: romantic dinner at fabulous fancy seafood restaurant. Saturday: grumpy from no sleep and not eating until 2:30. crappy brunch at supposedly good restaurant. GOTM fails to make plans for the rest of the day, despite promise to do so, end up sitting park. GOTM complains of boredom entire time. drinks with a couple of friends at night, altho most don't show up. GOTM acting grumpy. Sunday: picnic with family. avalon's final party. saw manny lehman mixing, which was INCREDIBLE. GOTM makes fun of a dance move, argument ensues. Monday: laundry. dinner with best friend & GOTM. supposed to be a surprise dinner with friends, alas, no one shows up. afterwards, sit in a park to chitchat & enjoy the weather & city, GOTM again starts complaining of boredom. argument ensues. Yes, almost every bday I've had has been this crappy.

so what you're saying is, it sucked because i wasn't there. GOTM and BFF are both terrible planners, that's all i have to say about that. i'm postponing your bday until friday. we should go sky-diving to celebrate!!

yes, GOTM sucks. and my best friend was extraordinarily busy the entire weekend, I'm surprised she even thought of the dinner... she regrets not planning it sooner, but I'm grateful that she even tried. it's really my luck, I've never had a successful get together. sky-diving! yes! we will fly like the pigeons. can we not it a bday celebration, tho? somehow associating events & get-togethers with my birthday places a hex on them.

i feel your pain.... ....but wish i was feeling your ass... as someone born close to a major holiday, i understand your "hex" feeling. i've grown up with the "here's your birthdaychristmas present" syndrome. i always put on a happy face, but i end up bawling my eyes out around midnight of my birthday. you'd think i would be used to it by now (like i tell everyone) but it still sucks to know your birthday is going to be shitty every year. we should have an "unbirthday" party for you, like in alice!

that sucks i think it's the pressure to have a good time. especially if there's a GOTM (or best friend) involved who doesn't oh, i don't know, make a fucking plan. and why is it that gf or bestfriend has such a good time on *her* b-day? could it be because i start thinking about it weeks ahead of time? and then actually invite people and make reservations? what a concept.

naw, it's not the pressure. I've given up on expecting a good time. but somehow, every bday surpasses my low expectations in a negative way each year. yes, all it takes is forethought, but apparently GOTM seriously lacks that.

i've given up on birthdays all together. about a month ahead of time, i remind my best friend and any relevant significant other that my birthday is coming up, and formally notify them that i will plan NOTHING on my own. If they'd like to plan something, i'll go along, but left to my own devices, i'll eat truffles and read a book.
